Ruben Arredondo
Ruben is a former judge for a state public utilities commission and prosecutor for federal energy regulators. He has sophisticated experience at the state/provincial utility commission level and federal regulatory levels. He is a seasoned consultant and lawyer with legal and technical experience in the electrical industry. He has experience across the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Ruben guided an in-house enforcement team tasked with prosecuting some of Western North America’s top energy companies. He managed some of the world’s top law firms as his outside counsel and defended against some of the world’s top law firms with repeated wins at administrative agencies and federal courts.
He has experience consulting on new resource and generation interconnection procedures, disputes, studies, and costs; rate setting; project siting; tariffs; approval of power facilities; and other utility litigation. He was involved in the implementation of the NERC Reliability Standards in western North America, both cybersecurity and operations and maintenance. He worked every single day in helping to craft audit approaches, review and oversee compliance programs, oversee entity registration, monitoring compliance, and interpreting and improving NERC Standards against more than 400 registered entities in western North America.

He speaks the language of electrical engineers and cybersecurity professionals alike and has consulted in highly complex areas like CIP cybersecurity, path rating, planning and generation and other electrical and renewable energy-related matters. He has a passion for stepping into already existing teams and helping them solve tough problems with creative and well-reasoned solutions.
